It’s the year of Bruce Melodie as he tops all Rwandese radio airplay and charts! The Rwandese singer makes history as the first artist from Rwanda to grace Coke Studio Africa, paired alongside Kenyan rapper Khaligraph. The two will record an original song and music mash ups that will be produced by South Africa’s heavyweight music producer DJ Maphorisa. Bruce is at the same time enjoying the sweet success of his hit single: “Ikinya”. The music video of the song just surpassed 400,000 Views on YouTube in just two months. Fast moving to 1 Million Views, this becomes Bruce’s best performing music video on his own channel and undoubtedly one of Rwanda’s successful music videos on YouTube by a Rwandese artist.
To top the big news, Bruce just announced that his anticipated third album titled “IKINYA” (Painkiller or slang for Hangover in Kinyarwanda) will be dropping this December. In the album, Bruce confirms that he will feature his Coke Studio collaborator Khaligraph among top African international music acts. This makes him confident that the upcoming album will be his first international project. He says, “The album will be big for my fans in Rwanda and go beyond to open the gate of Rwandese music to the international market and an international level.”
Bruce has also announced a short Canadian tour from 26th August that will see him grace 3 concerts in Canada. During his 3-week planned stay in Canada, Bruce confirms that he will also be shooting new music videos to unreleased songs set to feature in his upcoming album. Bruce also just returned to East Africa from Lagos, where he was filming commercials while building networks with media houses, video directors and artists. While in Lagos, Bruce met up with Coke Studio Africa – 2017 artist, Falz, who will be collaborating with Uganda’s Bebe Cool on the show. The two might have discussed possible features for “IKINYA”.
