Two of Africa’s biggest music acts: Olamide King Baddo (Nigeria) and AKA (South Africa) – the Supa Mega are in Nairobi, to participate in the recording of Coke Studio Africa – 2017, set to premiere across different countries from Sept, 2017. The two will be produced by top South African producer Sketchy Bongo, and set to deliver one of Africa’s biggest collabos set to unite the continent. The music created will be performed live alongside Coke Studio’s highly talented band.
Olamide, the boss of YBNL – Nigerian top label – also released a new track while in Nairobi – “Summer Body”. While speaking at Homeboyz Radio, Olamide spoke about returning to Coke Studio Africa, and the importance of the show in uniting Africa. “Coke Studio Africa is a platform that shows what our leaders should do – unite our people and make it known to the people that no matter where you are coming from – we are one. The music movement is taking place allover Africa just like the show – we are one,” adding, “It’s high time for Africa to take over the world, and the whole world is watching.”
AKA is confident that his pairing with Olamide will produce magic that will light households across Africa. He says: “Olamide is a big artist in his own right and even from his country and across the continent – I think our fans will be very eager to hear what our collabo sounds like, we have a great producer Sketchy Bongo known for his great productions and producing many great artists.” From South Africa to West Africa and beyond – get ready for one of Africa’s biggest Coke Studio collaborations this year.
AKA who has been riding high with his latest solo releases: “Caiphus Song” and “The World Is Yours” makes his debut on Coke Studio Africa, this year. Last year, he was paired with Patoranking on Coke Studio ZA. Their original song “Special Fi Mi” was a massive tune, which went on to chart airwaves across Africa and the UK. After the show, the two went on to shoot a music video for the song. Olamide returns to Coke Studio Africa – 2017, since the show’s third season where he was paired with Mozambican Queen of Marrabenta Neyma and produced by legendary Kenyan producer Musyoka.
