Top Tanzanian singer and songwriter Alikiba, best known for hits like “Cinderella”, “Mwana”, “Chekecha” and “Aje” returns to Coke Studio Africa for a second time this year, paired alongside Nigerian dancehall king Patoranking, also a second timer on the show. Last year Patoranking was paired with Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee while Alikiba worked with Kenyan singer Victoria Kimani before on the show.
While speaking about their hot collaboration in Nairobi during the show’s recording Alikiba said, “It feels good. I would like to thank Coke Studio for the opportunity – this is for our fans and people all over Africa. The song will be hot! Me and Patoranking have an amazing chemistry plus I am a huge fan of Patoraking!” Patoranking also talked about being back to Coke Studio and working with Alikiba: “Big shout out to Coke Studio Africa for having me for a second time – the whole music making experience is always a beautiful experience. Imagine me with a legend like Alikiba? It’s a big one!” The pairing will be produced by top Nigerian music producer Masterkraft.
This year Coke Studio has merged Coke Studio Africa and Coke Studio South Africa into one—bigger and better Coke Studio Africa 2017. The show promises to be a melting pot of music talents bringing together renowned music producers and top-notch artists drawn from various parts of the continent. The merger increases the number of participating countries to 16, up from 11 in previous edition.
